Sebastian verso

Sebastian, patron saint of plagues, archers and athletics. Taken as a gay icon in this contemporary period he can be seen suffering for his beliefs, and that of others, in differing versions over the centuries. This photograph with its mark-making takes a more complete view where the ‘arrows’ metaphorically do not stop, passing through the body to devastate all sense of empathy and compassion as is happening with reason and tolerance and the rise of populism in politics. It acts as a document to measure the present undercurrent of societal issues.
